Niyazi Taghizadeh-Hajibeyov (1912-1984) "Khosrov and Shirin" (1942)
A conductor & composer, People's Artist of USSR (1959), Hero of Socialist Labor (1982), Laureate of USSR State Awards (1951, 1952, 1967), International Award after C.Nehru (1974). The formation and development of conducting school in Azerbaijan associates with his name. He was the artistic director and conductor of Azerbaijan State Symphony Orchestra since 1938 (with time breaks). The author of "Rast" symphonic mugam (1949), "Khosrov and Shirin" opera (1942), "Chitra" ballet (1961), "City suite" (1934), "Gaytagi (1939), music for movies, and others symphonic works.
